There is growing concern regarding Democracy in Africa and Civic space shrinking at an alarming rate. In the light of these a Webinar was organized by LifeLine to bring CSOs together to address Campaigning and Advocacy work in Restrictive Environments.

 WACSOF, represented by the General Secretary was part of this event where the problems in the shrinking civil spaces were identified and many solutions proffered. The Webinar was held on the 20th of April.

WACSOF COMMISERATES WITH THE FAMILY OF MR. INNOCENT CHUKWUMA,

AND THE FORD FOUNDATION ON HIS DEMISE.

ABUJA, APRIL 07, 2021: The members, the management, and staff of the West African Civil Society Forum (WACSOF) is saddened by the news of the death of Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, who passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021. A principal and active figure in the Civil Society Sphere and recently retired West Africa regional Director of Ford Foundation.

Mr Chukwuma certainly left a broad mark of selflessness around West Africa.

He spent decades advancing the cause of a better society of the region and was a recipient of many awards.

WACSOF commiserates with his family and encourages them to bear the loss in good faith for Mr. Innocent Chukwuma played his part in his time.

WACSOF also commiserates with Ford Foundation on this great loss of an exceptional leader.

COTONOU, 17TH FEBRUARY 2021

The expanded civil society and media meeting was attended by over 60 representatives of organisations and networks reflecting the diversity of the civil society groups in the country. The meeting implemented the agenda of the visit in details; the required strategy for engaging the authorities on ACDEG implementation and reporting, and for organizing civil society under WACSOF to better engage and sustain the work on ACDEG.
