WACSOF Trains Over 20 CSO Members on AFRICAN GOVERNANCE ARCHITECTURE

The West African Civil Society Forum (WACSOF) has organized a Capacity Development Regional Training for CSOs on African Governance Architecture.

The Training was held in Abuja on the 25th of April 2018.

The participants were trained on how to map stakeholders at the state, National, Regional and International Levels. During the event, they identified at the state level Community Chiefs, Local Government Chairman’s, Local Associations, Youth Leaders, State Assembly Members, Labour Unions, Religious Leaders, Students Unions, Women Leaders, Commissioners, Councillors, Governors, CSOs and FBOs.

At the National Level, the stakeholders identified included the Presidency, Senators, National Associations, Security bodies, National Media Bodies, Judiciary, MDA’s, Embassies and High Commissions, etc. While at the regional level, among those identified were ECOWAS, regional CSO coalitions and regional media organizations.

At the International Level, the African Union, Pan African Organizations, African Youth Union and others were identified.

Participants at the training recommended key actions to be taken in publicising AGA thereby resulting to positive actions from stakeholders. These includes, multi-media campaigns through radio and print media to reach rural communities, production of special reports, featured Interviews specifically designed to promote AGA and ACDEG, consistent weekly activities and campaign especially on social media.

22 persons drawn from 7 West African Countries – Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Guinea Conakry and Cote D Ivoire – attended the CSOs training.
