LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS IN BENIN: WACSOF COMMENDS AND ENCOURAGES THE AUTHORITIES TO CONTINUE THEIR EFFORTS FOR PEACEFUL INCLUSIVE ELECTIONS

WACSOF closely followed the progress of the legislative elections of January 8, 2023 in BENIN. Like several observers, WACSOF noted with optimism, compared to previous legislative elections, a better openness for the participation of a diversity of political parties and encourages the authorities to continue efforts towards the opening of the democratic.

WACSOF encourages all stakeholders to maintain a peaceful climate during the post-election period. WACSOF encourages the AUTONOMOUS NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (CENA) and the CONSTITUTIONAL COURT to announce the results within a reasonable timeframe, within the framework prescribed by the Constitution.

WACSOF expresses its availability to collaborate with the authorities in educating and sensitizing citizens for a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in the democratic game and the provisions of tools such as the ECOWAS protocol on democracy and good governance.
