WACSOF SUCCESSFULLY ORGANISED A HIGH LEVEL REGIONAL POLICY DIALOGUE ON CONFLICT PREVENTION AND NATURAL RESOURCES IN WEST AFRICA

05TH NOVEMBER 2021: In collaboration with GPPAC, WACSOF organized a HIGH LEVEL REGIONAL POLICY DIALOGUE ON CONFLICT PREVENTION AND NATURAL RESOURCES. The activity took place in BAMAKO with participants from NIGERIA, BURKINA FASO, SENEGAL, MALI, TOGO. Mining communities of KALANA and NAMPALA were represented as well as the MALI mining chamber of commerce and some governments representatives.

It was a wonderful opportunity of experience sharing among  the participants with different backgrounds.

Mr. MAMADOU DIA from GOREE INSTITUTE, member of GPPAC,  based in Senegal shared their wide and deep experience on conflict prevention at regional and continental levels.

Mrs REGINA OUATTARA from WILFP BURKINA, member of GPPAC, shared women perspective on conflict prevention in the region.

Mr RAFIU  from NIGERIA, member of GPPAC, shared youth perspective and experience on conflict prevention in West Africa.

Additional to that WACSOF published a booklet on the provisions of the ECOWAS Harmonized mining code in conflicts prevention as well as many testimonies from the mining community beneficiaries (from NAMPALA, KALANA IN THE SIKASSO REGION IN MALI)
